Landiscor wall murals include a current aerial image with detailed real estate information layers like land use, master planned communities, large retail destinations and major employers. They also provide general mapping data such as highways/freeways, major roads, municipal boundaries, airports, colleges & universities and points of interest.
Imagery provided by search engine mapping applications or other online services is at a much lower file size and dpi (dots per inch) in order to stream quickly and create a positive user experience. It is not designed to be enlarged to create large format wall murals. Landiscor uses the raw imagery and works with extremely large files to ensure that our products are high quality and the imagery and graphics are crisp.
Landiscor spends several weeks to create a wall mural for each particular market. It takes a team of detail oriented professionals to make sure everything is displayed correctly. The imagery must be acquired, then color balanced and corrected to provide the most visually appealing image. Once we have the seamless image ready, we use multiple GIS and graphics software programs to add all of the data overlays/labels and prepare the file to print.
All Landiscor wall murals are mounted on black half-inch gatorboard and include a black perimeter trim frame. For rolled prints, please visit our Posters page.
The sizes vary based on the extents of the map, but most standard murals are printed on 2 panels and are at least 90 inches tall. The mini murals typically have one side at 48 inches so it can be printed on 1 panel. Exact size options for our off-the-shelf murals can be found in the Online Store. Custom murals can be any size, we have created maps that are over 12 feet tall and more than 25 feet wide.
Most Standard size wall murals are two panels and have a hinged and imagery wrapped seam for a professional look and to avoid the print from lifting off the gatorboard. It also results in a fold-able wall mural to help reduce shipping costs and make the installation easier. Some wall murals are three or more panels and those maps will be produced using the same imagery wrapped process on all seams.
Many markets in the Southwest were updated on an annual basis for years, but given the limited availability of current high quality aerial imagery, we now update our wall murals every 2 to 3 years.
In order to produce the most visually appealing wall mural, the majority of our wall murals use aerial imagery flown during the summer months (May – September). It usually takes about 4 to 6 months for the imagery to be orthorectified and delivered to us after it is all flown. Once we have the imagery in-house, there is another 1 to 2 months of production time to gather the most current information and update the map. This pushes the release date to early in the next year. For example a 2014 Phoenix wall mural was released in April 2014, but flown in August 2013.
Landiscor uses Durst Lambda technology for premium quality. We have multiple vendors around the country all using this type of printer and have found the quality and consistency to be unmatched.
Yes. Logos and other information can easily be added to the map. There is a flat fee of $100 to add branding with a company logo and hourly charges for additional custom graphics. We will always provide a graphics estimate before finalizing the order and require customer approval of a digital proof prior to printing.

Dry-Erase lamination is an optional finish that provides customers with the ability to write on the wall mural with a dry-erase marker and use it like a white board. This is a very popular option and also provides a layer of protection to the map.
Magnetic backing is an optional finish that allows customers to place small magnets on the mural to identify features and communicate with clients. This is accomplished by placing a thin metal sheet between the print and the gatorboard when the map is produced.
Yes. Landiscor can actually ship wall murals worldwide. Shipping costs are calculated based on the quantity, size and distance.
Landiscor has worked closely with its vendors to minimize the potential damage during the shipping process. This includes carefully packaging the mounted wall murals, spraying a foam insert around the map, building a heavy duty cardboard crate to protect the corners, and finally boxing the mural. The process has yielded excellent results over many years.
Mural orders placed in our Online Store typically arrive in about 7 to 10 business days. This includes the time to produce the map, adding any optional finishes, packaging and the transit/delivery time.
Most customers install the wall murals themselves using panelboard or finishing nails that are at least 1 ⅝” in length around edges of the map. The gatorboard is very strong, but also lightweight and very easy to attach to the wall. We do offer professional installation in our Arizona, Texas and Nevada markets for an additional fee.
Off-the-shelf wall murals typically range in price from $1,400 to $2,800 and depend on the size and amount of information included on the map. For individual market pricing, please visit our Online Store.
